In the months following Hunter's proposal, Sarah devised a plan for how she would propose to him. She was in no rush, as they'd still been dating for just over a year, so she took her sweet time. Hunter never put pressure on her or asked what was taking so long. One day in August, she had a lightning bolt of inspiration: she could use the stories they'd captured in their Date Log and entries from Sarah's daily journal, along with photographs, to create a multi-media project that could help convey her feelings for him and why she wanted to continue to build a life together through marriage. In many ways, the project was a precursor to the exhibits they planned for the Lego Museum at their wedding. It took her four months to complete it, any time Hunter was out with his friends or otherwise occupied. She managed to keep it mostly under wraps, only revealing a hint about what she was working on when she had to ask to borrow his phone for a while so she could get pictures from it. But even then, he couldn't have imagined the scale of what she was making for him (just like he couldn't imagine the scale that the Lego Museum would grow to when he innocently agreed to the concept).
On December 10, Sarah and Hunter spent the better part of two hours reviewing the 156 pages she had compiled for him (some excerpts are pictured below; if you're wondering, the cover page is a reference to Chidi's thesis in the show, The Good Place). Hunter cried at times and was very quiet, overwhelmed with happiness by Sarah's devotion. At the end, Sarah presented Hunter with a custom-carved dice box that she commissioned, which read, "Will you roll the dice with me?" Inside was a golden 20-sided die, which usually features numbers 1-20, but this one was special and had a 20 on each side (in DND, rolling a 20 is a guaranteed success). Sarah asked Hunter, "Can I keep you?" Hunter said, "Yes," pulling Sarah close to him for a long embrace. Hunter was so happy and emotionally spent that he fell asleep on her soon after, his soft snores giving rise to the feelings of warmth, safety, and love that are the throughlines of their relationship.
