As Sarah concluded her time at her job with MENTOR Virginia and took a week off before starting her new job at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, the couple booked a weekend getaway in the mountains. It was a trip where everything seemed to go wrong, but they made the best of it. They tried to begin their journey with a hike on a trail along the Blue Ridge Parkway, but when they arrived at the trailhead, they realized they didn't have enough water in their car to hike. They also realized Hunter's car didn't have enough gas to find more water, so they instead had to abandon the plan altogether. When they arrived at the Airbnb in Amherst, it was lackluster. The listing included photos of goats, but they weren't visible from the house. The weather was a mix of rain and snow that kept them inside, watching Hunger Games movies (which Hunter had never seen) and Bo Burnham's Inside special (which Sarah had also never seen). The kitchen wasn't fully stocked, so Hunter had to find the nearest Dollar General so he could make Sarah her beloved banana waffles. The basement in the Airbnb was the same size as the upstairs, but unfinished, and contained only three items: a lone, dusty exercise bike that wasn't plugged in, the washer/dryer, and a ping pong table with exactly three ping pong balls. Cobwebs graced the corners of the room. Not wanting to watch any more TV, they played ping pong. It was their first time playing together. Sarah is always surprised by Hunter's coordination (because he's so nerdy, she forgets that he's also athletic). After some good rallies, they managed to lose all three ping pong balls behind radiators and in other dusty, dark crevices. They felt like someone was watching them the whole time...but thankfully, they didn't get murdered in the murder basement.

After checking out of their Airbnb, they visited some local sights. They drove through the campus of Sweet Briar College, stopped for coffee at a sweet little cafe that had a small outdoor patio they could sit on, and headed to Lynchburg. They walked along some trails by the James River and saw several historic buildings. They diverted to walk in more residential areas with old historic homes. The sky that day was so blue with big fluffy white clouds (of course, they didn't take any photos). After browsing some shops in Lynchburg, they headed back toward home.
