For their first concert together, Hunter and Sarah saw Sylvan Esso at The National, which is a small, standing-room-only venue in Richmond. That was Hunter's first time at The National, and it was the first time they had seen that band for both of them. Sylvan Esso is an electropop duo, and the bandmates are also real-life mates (they're married). Sarah was listening to them on heavy rotation early in their relationship, and Hunter grew to enjoy the music too. When she asked him to come to the concert with her, he didn't hesitate. It was still during the COVID era, so they had to wear masks and show proof of vaccination to enter the venue. It was odd for them to be around so many people in an indoor space. The show was lively and fun, the crowd singing along, and the singer giving an energetic (and quite sexy) performance. It's music you can dance to, so Sarah and Hunter were swaying with each other and getting into the rhythm of it. Live music has a way of lifting the spirit and bringing a sense of connection. They shared a sense of gratitude for having the experience together.
