Premise: A group of middle-schoolers get mixed up in inter-dimensional danger when they find Eleven, a girl with special powers who escaped from a secret lab in Hawkins, Indiana. They have to team up to close the portal that has been opened between their world and the Upside Down.
Favorite Moment: Hunter's favorite moment was discovering that Sam Wise from Lord of the Rings now lives in Hawkins (or did, before a Demogorgon got him). Sarah's favorite moment was when Will, who had been taken to the Upside Down by a monster, spoke to his mom (Winona Ryder) through Christmas lights she strung up in their house in an attempt to reach him.

Significance of Sets:
Demogorgon: The couple found an alternative brand Demogorgon set, representing the dog-like creatures with flower-like heads that drag their victims to the Upside Down to kill them. They are part of the hive mind of the show's villains, the Mind Flayer and Vecna.
Vintage Swing Clock: The grandfather-style clock the couple found reminded them of Vecna, a former supervisor of the gifted children in the lab in Hawkins (original name: Henry Creel), where he befriended Eleven. He also has telepathic powers like Eleven, but reveals that he is a genocidal psychopath, so Eleven banishes him through the Hellscape, where his journey to becoming Vecna begins. He becomes the ruler of the Upside Down and stalks victims in Hawkins, taunting them with memories of their trauma before taking them to the Upside Down to brutally kill them. Any time Vecna is about to appear, a swing clock appears and tolls loudly.
Where It's Streaming: Netflix; the show is currently active, and season five is scheduled to be released before the end of 2025.
Reason They Watched: Sarah had started watching the show with her family in its early seasons. Hunter had never seen it, but Sarah knew he'd love it because the characters are Dungeons & Dragons nerds and the villains are from that universe.
