Premise: Sex Education is a British teen sex comedy drama that follows the lives of the teenagers and adults in the fictional town of Moordale as they contend with various personal dilemmas, often related to sexual intimacy. The awkward and self-doubting main character, Otis, gets roped into becoming a peer-to-peer sex therapist for other kids at his school, despite having no sexual experience himself.

Favorite Moment: The Moordale Theater Department puts on a play written by one of the students, and it's an erotic alien take on Romeo and Juliet. It is boundary-breaking in every conceivable way, and it helps earn the school a reputation as "sex school" in the larger community. That sets up the final season of the show, where a hard-line new headmaster arrives at the school and tries unsuccessfully to break Moordale of its weirdness and sexual liberation. The show combines a remarkably open curiosity and attitude toward sex with British humor, making for a memorable experience.

Significance of the Set: Although there are no brick sets specifically designed for this show, one of the show's subplots involves a city bus. Aimee lives too far away from school to walk, so she has to take the bus. One day, a man assaults her on her birthday. She thinks she's fine at first, but develops PTSD and becomes paralyzed with fear to ride the bus. After a while of her walking the long distance to get to school, her friends joined her in facing her fear of the bus by riding it with her. It's a triumphant moment that showcases the power of community, especially the beauty that comes from women supporting one another.

Where It's Streaming: Netflix; the finale aired in 2023.

Their Reason for Watching: Sarah had started watching the show and enjoyed the provocative nature of it. She was curious to see if Hunter would find it interesting too, and he did, because he finds Sarah interesting and wants to experience the things she likes.
