Sarah's friend, Tori, hosts an annual Pumpkin Party each fall. It's a potluck-style gathering that easily sees 40 people or more throughout the afternoon. Golden Pumpkins (pumpkins spray-painted gold) are awarded for the best savory, sweet, and creative dishes that incorporate pumpkin. For Sarah and Hunter's first pumpkin party together, they brought a mini waffle iron, homemade pumpkin waffle batter, and real maple syrup to create a make-your-own-waffle station. Hunter piled his plate high with all sorts of pumpkin goodies, and they spent time chatting with other party-goers around one of the several fire pits set up in Tori and her husband, Tee's, backyard. A group of kids was dazzled by how the fire would double in size when piles of leaves were thrown into it. Hunter ended up being the chief leaf-supplier for Harvey, a boy who uses a wheelchair and couldn't get enough of making the fire dance. At the end of the night, after a round of voting, Sarah and Hunter were crowned the winners of the "Most Creative Use of Pumpkin" category and took home the coveted Golden Pumpkin.

The following year's Pumpkin Party featured Sarah and Hunter's introduction of ladder ball, which quickly became a favorite among the kids. The same child from the year before, Harvey, wanted to dance with Sarah, so she obliged and twirled him around the patio in his wheelchair. He twirled so many times that Sarah got dizzy just watching him spin. The couple brought pumpkin swirl brownies, which won second place in the "Best Pumpkin Dessert" category (and were later bumped up to first place when it was discovered that the initial winner didn't use pumpkin in their dessert!).

By the time the couple's third Pumpkin Party rolled around, a few things had changed. For one, Sarah's friend Tori and her husband, Tee, had a baby boy named Brian, who was around 9 months old by the time of the party (and wore an adorable pumpkin beanie). Tori had gotten into cocktail menu design, so she bartended most of the night with very impressive cocktails that she had prepped (which was what spurred Sarah to ask her for help with designing the drink menu for their wedding!). And Tee, known for his pumpkin pizza, had professionalized his pizza-making with an outdoor pizza oven and churned out pizzas all night long. Sarah and Hunter brought cupcakes decorated to look like a pumpkin patch for the potluck, and ended up winning for "Best Pumpkin Dessert." This year, they took home a pumpkin pie pumpkin instead of a Golden Pumpkin because the party happened much closer to Thanksgiving than usual (having a new baby will do that!).
