Assembled by Vanessa Reyes, February 2025
Interaction Rating: 3 / 5 (interaction with the set is okay, but only with help from an adult)
Premise: The series centers on two half-brothers, Wirt and Greg, who travel through a mysterious forest to find their way home, encountering a variety of strange and fantastical creatures along the way.
Favorite Moment: While lost in the woods, Wirt and Greg end up at a school for forest creatures, where they take shelter. The food served at the school is plain and sad. Never one to suffer in silence, Greg gets the idea to pour molasses on his potatoes, which catches on. To honor the occasion, Greg makes a song titled "Potatoes and Molasses" that endures as one of the most memorable moments of the show. They also enjoyed the part where Greg's frog has a different name nearly every episode, with the best one being Jason Funderburker, because it's nonsensical (although in the show, it's named after Wirt's love rival).
Set Significance: Sarah found an MOC (my own creation) version of Wirt, Greg, and Beatrice, a human who was changed into a bluebird after throwing a rock at one. She surprised Hunter with the set for Christmas.
Where It's Streaming: Netflix; the finale aired in 2014.
Reason They Watched: Hunter had seen it before, and the couple was looking for something to go well with a Halloween vibe. He knew that Over the Garden Wall was just the ticket.
