When Sarah met Hunter, he drove a bright blue Honda Civic Hatchback (that desperately needed a good vacuuming). It needed some repairs, and dealerships at the time were experiencing a shortage of Civics, so his car was worth about as much as he'd initially paid for it when it was brand new. So, he decided to visit a car dealership and explore different car options. He took Sarah with him and test drove a used Kia Optima hybrid that he liked. There was, sadly, no banana car to test drive; otherwise, they surely would have ended up buying that one on the spot.

They returned to the dealership a couple of days later to test drive some additional cars, including the Optima. The other cars didn't leave the same impression on him, though. During the final test drive, Hunter connected his phone to the Optima's Bluetooth to make sure it worked (while telling Sarah that "Bluetooth" is named after a pirate) and initiated the car to his favorite Irish drinking songs. Buying a car is not a fast process, so they spent most of the day at the dealership after Hunter decided he was going to trade his blue-sports-car-driving rebel youth days behind and transition into the responsible, boring-car-driving, fuel-efficient phase of his life. As Sarah grew restless, she entertained herself by looking through Hunter's Facebook feed and his Facebook photos. She was shocked to see how often he posted, usually to pick fights with people who had fallen for misinformation, as he never discussed it. She teased him about that and had way too much fun looking through photos of young Hunter (including a photo of him as a kid wearing a Confederate soldier's uniform at the Vicksburg National Military Park as part of a historical reenactment). They both updated their profile photos to be of them together as a couple. (Don't go looking for Hunter's Facebook now, as he has since deleted his account entirely.) Hours later, they finally left with a new used car.

Later, in June 2025, the new used car the couple picked out in 2022 broke down while Hunter was taking a load of wedding stuff to their storage unit. Sarah passed the time by assembling minifigures while sitting on a rolling cart at the storage unit. Later, when they were getting the car towed for a second time (to a mechanic who understood hybrids), Sarah and Hunter passed the time by putting brick sets together in Sarah's car.
