Right before their second Christmas together, Sarah and Hunter took a trip to Alexandria to stay with his sister, Rachel. Hunter and Rachel's parents were visiting, and it would be Sarah's first time meeting them. She was nervous, but Hunter wasn't. He knew they'd love her just as he did. Their nephew, Andrew, was feeling ill when the couple arrived, but bounced back to life after some Tylenol. Sarah met Hunter's mom, Kristy, and dad, Roy, as well as two of his childhood pups, Abbie and Roofus. Sarah and Abbie became quick friends as they snuggled in an armchair. Roy made homemade focaccia bread to go with dinner, which smelled incredible and, for Hunter, tasted amazing. Andrew, who was feeling much better, wouldn't stop calling Hunter, "Banana."
The next day, while they were out doing a grocery run at Trader Joe's, the couple decided that it would be funny to wrap a real banana in a box and stick it under the tree for Andrew. He was absolutely tickled when he opened the banana during the gift exchange, and it unleashed a whole banana tradition that will follow them for years to come. Uncle Hunter has since become Uncle Banana. Andrew and Hunter both have banana swords that they can play fight with each other. Andrew goes to sleep with a banana-shaped Brontosaurus stuffie that the couple got him. Andrew will always have a banana wrapped under the Christmas tree, and it will never not be funny.
On their way back down south to Mississippi, Kristy and Roy stopped by to visit the couple for a little longer and to see the home where Hunter now lived with Sarah. Rachel and Andrew also drove down from Alexandria. They all walked over to Sunday Park near the couple's house before Kristy and Roy packed the dogs back up for the long drive home. The couple took Rachel and Andrew to the Science Museum of Virginia afterwards.
