On a beautiful spring day with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s, Hunter and Sarah decided to bring a blanket and some takeout from Jason's Deli to Maymont, a public park and Victorian estate in Richmond. They picnicked on a great sledding hill near some mature trees before lying on their backs, looking up at the sky and watching the wispy clouds. They talked about their favorite cartoons from childhood before napping, Sarah curled into the nook of Hunter's shoulder. The day stretched long like this, and they felt calm and peaceful.

After enjoying their picnic, Sarah and Hunter explored the rest of Maymont, including the beautiful Italian Garden, which bears an incredibly similar resemblance to the LEGO Fountain Garden. This is the most romantic place to take a stroll in all of Richmond, and it looks different at every season.
Japanese Garden

They also explored the Japanese Garden, remarkably similar to the LEGO Tranquil Garden. The set captures the koi and the architecture of the structures present at Maymont. The only thing noticeably missing is the large waterfall that can be seen perfectly from the bridge in the Japanese Garden, cascading down from the Italian Garden on top of the hill.
This is one of their favorite early dates, and they relive it on one of the first warm spring days every year as a matter of tradition and a way to slow down into the rhythms of the changing season.

Sarah and Hunter in the Japanese Garden at Maymont two and a half years after their first visit to the park together.
