Sarah and Hunter are fortunate to live within walking distance of a reservoir that features a small beach ideal for launching kayaks. Sarah gifted her mom, Bonnie, a bright blue kayak for Christmas some years prior, and one of Bonnie's friends kept another blue kayak on the same rented T-stand near the water. One beautiful June evening, the couple decided to kayak at sunset. The water was calm, primarily, allowing them to paddle quite a way away from the park and enjoy the open water. The sunset was not spectacular, but they didn't mind. As the light faded, the frogs kicked up their chorus, serenading them. Hunter was in the mood to sing sea shanties (a mood he's always in), and joined the frogs in a rousing (LOUD) rendition of the Mariner's Revenge Song by The Decemberists. It was the first song Sarah ever played for Hunter as he drove them to Forest Hill Park on their second date —a song Hunter already knew and loved (but that was about the extent of overlap in their music tastes, as they'd discover). It's an epic song, nearly 9 minutes long, telling a tale of wrongdoing, revenge, and getting swallowed by a whale. Sarah joined Hunter in singing, both of them knowing most of the words from memory. As it grew dark, they beached their kayaks and headed home, leaving the frogs to sing their songs in peace.
