Premise: LEGO Masters is a reality competition where teams of two LEGO enthusiasts compete to build the best LEGO project, judged by expert builders and designers. The teams face various challenges, including constructing elaborate models within set time limits, and compete for the title of Lego Master and a cash prize.
Favorite Moment: Sarah found joy in watching Bojack Horseman (Will Arnett) host such a silly competition show, and get an absolute kick out of his own bits. She knows someone else who enjoys doing that too. Hunter's favorite aspect of the show was Will Arnett's bits (not the physical ones). There was an episode where the contestants had to build bridges made only out of LEGO bricks and see how much weight they could hold; the set that could hold the most was crowned the winner of that round. Two sets held enough weight that OSHA regulations stipulated that they had to stop (something the TV crew did not anticipate). The weight those two sets could hold was 1,000 pounds! It was a nerve-wracking but entertaining episode.
Significance of the Set: The couple picked R2-D2 to represent this show partly because they were looking for an excuse to buy R2-D2. However, they can argue that it is incredibly relevant to the show because an entire episode was dedicated to Star Wars. R2-D2 and C3PO were surprise guest stars of the show, and rolled around the set checking on every competitor's build and commenting on their creativity.
Where It's Streaming: Netflix; the show first aired in 2020, and the fifth season came out in May 2025.
Their Reason for Watching: After learning the show existed (which was later than you'd think based on how interested in LEGO the couple has been over the past year), they had to watch it and see what all the hype was about. It can be hokey at times, as all competition shows can be, but the skill of the builders on the show is truly incredible and a lot of fun to watch.
