The Roman Empire

"Roman Colosseum"
"Roman Colosseum"

1,756 pieces  |  Dragon Blok

Assembled by Hunter Williams, October 2024

Interaction Rating: 3 / 5 (interaction with the set is okay, but only with the help of an adult)

For Hunter, the Roman Empire is, for lack of a better term, his Roman Empire. He has always had a keen interest in the time period of Julius Caesar and the multitude of civil wars that surrounded it. This includes one of his favorite bits of trivia about the longest year in human history, which was the year 46 BCE. It was known as the "year of confusion" for reasons that can't be discussed here due to word count limits (but feel free to Google it or ask Hunter sometime when you have a lot of time to chat). He also has a fascination with the Second Punic Wars, which took place a little before that, because Hannibal was a madman. He enjoyed learning about the military strategies Hannibal employed throughout his invasion, which included successfully encircling a military force twice the size of his own. He used this knowledge to try to impress Sarah early in their relationship. She was very taken by his ability to recite knowledge that she cared little about.

Civil Air Patrol

"Cessna 172 Skyhawk"
"Cessna 172 Skyhawk"

162 pieces  |  COBI: 26623

Assembled by Rachel Deese, July 2025

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

Hunter joined the Civil Air Patrol, a civilian search and rescue auxiliary of the United States Air Force, around the age of 15. Hunter's brother was already enrolled, so his mom signed him up too. It involved minimal training, followed by being on call indefinitely in case an ELT, or emergency location transmitter, signal was received, prompting Hunter and his family to mobilize in search of the plane carrying the device. They never actually encountered a plane crash, but met plenty of pilots who struggled with their landings, causing the ELT to go off. As part of Hunter's time with the Civil Air Patrol, the first time he ever flew in a plane of any kind, he was put in control of a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, which is his favorite fun fact to share.

Vicksburg National Military Park

"Napoleon Cannon"
"Napoleon Cannon"

609 pieces  |  The Mini Block: 83775

Assembled by Mike Alfare, February 2025

Interaction Rating: 3 / 5 (interaction with the set is okay, but only with the help of an adult)

Sarah hasn't yet had the opportunity to travel with Hunter to his hometown of Vicksburg, Mississippi. However, when she does, she must visit the Vicksburg National Military Park, where Hunter volunteered between the ages of 14 and 17. This volunteer service involved wearing wool in the Mississippi summer, firing muskets and cannons, and talking with visitors through the living history program. He will neither confirm nor deny the existence of a photo of him as a child wearing a Confederate uniform.

Technically, a Wedding at Burger King

"Burger King"
"Burger King"

307 pieces  |  LOZ: 1602

Assembled by Mike Alfare, June 2025

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

Weirdly enough, Hunter can officiate weddings in multiple states with his certification from the Universal Life Church. He officiated the wedding of a close friend in Mississippi, his sister's wedding at a swamp in Louisiana, and another close friend's wedding at a Burger King in Tennessee (though there may have been a paperwork issue due to arcane legal matters he can't recall the details of, causing his friend to have to re-do the paperwork). Hunter's friend lived in St. Louis, and they were meeting in Memphis. They always knew they were going to sign the wedding license wherever they landed in Memphis, and that just so happened to be a Burger King. If you need Hunter to officiate your upcoming wedding, please ensure that you book it in Mississippi or Louisiana. (But not Virginia; they're weirdly strict about who can officiate weddings.)

I'm Going to Love You Oolong Time

"Teapot"
"Teapot"

690 pieces  |  Loz: 1265

Assembled by Hunter Williams, October 2024

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

Hunter is not exactly a graceful or delicate person (all 6 feet and almost 200 pounds of him), so his love for tea took Sarah by surprise when they first got to know each other. He loves the taste and the scents, and has rarely met a cup he didn't enjoy. Before their first real trip together to the Outer Banks in June of 2022, Sarah surprised Hunter with a little travel wallet full of a variety of teas that she picked out for him (which he would later describe as the moment he knew he would marry her). Sarah also surprised Hunter with a tea subscription to Carytown Tea's monthly variety box for their first anniversary of dating. On many evenings, no matter the season, Hunter can often be found enjoying a cuppa (and even has a tea table in his office at work). Adorablejust like this teapot set!

Whole Latte Love

"Vintage Italian Coffee Machine"
"Vintage Italian Coffee Machine"

663 pieces  |  Ueuo: 2090

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, January 2025

Interaction Rating: 3 / 5 (interaction with the set is okay, but only with the help of an adult)

Hunter frequently says that it's a well-known fact that coffee saves lives. Everyone he works with. You could say that Hunter is addicted to caffeine, because he is. He needs it to function and experiences withdrawal when he doesn't get it. He enjoys the taste, even of shitty gas station coffee (which he prefers o'er Starbucks; see the section on things Hunter hates). While he used to add cream and sugar to his coffee in his younger days, he now opts to take it black. It's significantly healthier, but that's not why he does it. It's just so much easier not to, 'cause he's a lazy boy.

I KNEAD IT

"NY Pizza"

350 pieces  |  The Mini Block: 90750

Assembled by Hunter Williams, October 2024

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

March 28, 2025

While Sarah was asking Hunter what story he might want to tell about his love for pizza, they heard the air fryer beep downstairs in the kitchen, and Hunter's face dawned in recognition. My pizza, he cried out! He'd put the last slice of a supreme pizza in the air fryer for a Friday night treat after a long week at work. But he forgot to reduce the timer from its standard 30 minute default, and so by the time the airy fryer beeper, his pizza was charred beyond recognition. And that was the day the pizza dream died. This was not the pizza story he thought he would tell, but the timing was just too perfect (or imperfect, depending on how you slice it). If you're wondering, the title of this set comes from SpongeBob SquarePants, when he's over at Sandy's dome for the first time and almost dies from lack of water.

October 13, 2023

As usual for a Friday (or any day of the week back when she worked across the city), Hunter got home before Sarah after work. He thought it would be fun to surprise her with a fancy scene for no real reason. Picture this: Hunter, all dressed up in his dapper maroon suit (no bow tie, though) with his nice buffed dress shoes that he keeps in a cloth bag when not wearing them. He was sitting in Sarah's office in her suede yellow armchair. In one hand, a book about enjoying oneself in the outdoors (which he was only holding, not actually reading). On the other hand, a coffee mug of a substance they can't fully remember now, but that they like to imagine was a stiff whiskey (but it probably wasn't, because what monster would drink whiskey out of a coffee mug when a rocker was readily available). Hunter isn't a big drinker, but he does occasionally enjoy a good whiskey sour, old-fashioned, or gin and tonic. When Sarah came home from work, she couldn't help but laugh at Hunter's silliness. He tried to keep a straight face while she took a picture of him, but he couldn't fully contain his laughter. He does relish an opportunity to laugh at his own jokes (because no one else usually will).

Rubik's Cube

"Speed Cube"
"Speed Cube"

55 pieces  |  AMAZA: FX7780

Assembled by Hunter Williams, October 2024

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

One of Hunter's unique skills that he tried to dazzle Sarah with is his ability to solve a Rubik's Cube, which he can do quite well. Now, this may seem like a thinly veiled attempt to display his bragging rights, and that's because it is. The cube on display is a fully functioning Rubik's Cube with the brick plates simulating the stickers on a regular cube. That makes this the one Rubik's Cube that you can solve by pulling the pieces off and rearranging them into the correct pattern (the only way that Sarah would ever be able to solve it).

Building a New Desktop PC

October 24 - November 3, 2024

Around mid-September, the time had come for Hunter to start looking into building a new computer, as the one he'd been using was a decade old. After deliberation and planning (and convincing himself it was okay to spend money on himself, which he rarely does), he eventually started buying parts for it in late October with a trip to Micro Center while his brother, Dustin, was visiting from Mississippi. He also had to wait for additional parts to ship, which was the hardest part because he was eager to get started. When the final parts came in, Hunter spent many hours on assembly and ran into a multitude of issues, like forgetting to take the plastic sticker off the CPU and a major BIOS issue that had him up at 7 am on Sunday trying to fix (the only time that has happened in their relationship). Finally, it was functional, and a few months later, Hunter relived the magic (with less stress) by putting together his very own brick PC model.

RuneScape Max Cape

"Max Cape"
"Max Cape"

15 pieces  |  OSRS Bricks

Assembled by Hunter Williams, May 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

April 20, 2025

On April 20, at 4:20 pm, after multitudes of years of playing the MMORPG (massive multi-player online roleplaying game) Old School RuneScape, Hunter finally "maxed." In the game, "maxing" happens when you max out all available skills. It took Hunter six years of playing the game on and off to reach this milestone. In the game, there are 23 different skills to master. When you do that, there is an island you can go to in the game where you can purchase a "Max Cape" that is only available to the elite few who master all the skills. Hunter made a show of getting his Max Cape by inviting friends and his brother to join him in the game at 4:20 pm precisely, which was when he officially maxed all of his skills. Then, they all walked to the special island to purchase the Max Cape [Dustin couldn't make it to the island because he couldn't pass the skill checks along the way].

Repetition is the Key to Humor

"Easter Egg Chick Painting Fun" x 3
"Easter Egg Chick Painting Fun" x 3

 65 pieces each  |  LEGO: 30690

Assembled by Andrew Deese, Sarah Wilkinson, Hunter Williams; April/May 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

As anyone knows, the key to a good comedic bit is long-term commitment, because we all know that repetition is the key to humor. To truly master long-term comedic bits, you must fully understand that the true secret is that repetition is the key to humor. Now, it may seem like the second sentence and the first sentence had a lot in common, and they likely did, but that's just because repetition is the key to humor.

The Wiggles

"White Rabbit"
"White Rabbit"

 258 pieces  |  LEGO: 31133 (retired)

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, May 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

Hunter does this thing when he's happy to see Sarah: he wiggles. It's usually a whole body case of the wiggles, starting in his hands and arms and spreading to the rest of his body. Sometimes, it's just his butt that wiggles, as though he were a bunny, or a cat doing a butt wiggle before pouncing in play. Sarah has always found his wiggles endearing, as they are a physical embodiment of his happiness to see her, even better than having a dog rush to the door to greet you. Sarah and Hunter are over three years into dating, and he still gets the wiggles regularly, especially when he sees her in the window as he comes home from work.

Wood You Mind?

Snowy Wood Pile
Snowy Wood Pile

 90 pieces  |  Unbranded: 96252

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, July 2025

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

Hunter likes wood. He enjoys wielding axes and building impressive fires. (He does have 99 Woodcutting and Firemaking, after all.) He likes things that are made of wood. Every time the couple is in a store together, Hunter can track down the wood in mere seconds. At home, he has bowls, a pestle and mortar, shelves, chopsticks, small chests, cooking utensils, and anything else that Sarah lets him keep in the house. Hunter cannot be trusted near artisan markets, shops owned by carpenters selling their wares, the Hearth & Hand section of Target, and any other places that sell wooden goods. He loves to buy wooden crockery and utensils and then shame Sarah for washing them in the dishwasher.

Friend to Bugs

On Display: Bee, Spider, Scorpion, Praying Mantis, Firefly
On Display: Bee, Spider, Scorpion, Praying Mantis, Firefly

119 pieces  |  HSANHE

Assembled by Andrew Deese, May 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

Hunter is the kind of man who will do everything possible to save a bug that has made the mistake of being visible to Sarah inside their house. Sarah appreciates the importance of bugs to the ecosystem and doesn't wish them away entirely; they just need to get out of her space. Hunter will grab a tissue, plate, or napkinanything he can find to help capture and transport the bug outside of the house. He has saved many spiders, bees, and other tiny little fellas in this way (no bug is too small!). An exception is made for beetles of any kind (especially ones that require "the big boot" to kill because they're so massive) and mosquitoes. Hunter's bug-friendly spirit breaks a little each spring when the old windows in the couple's bedroom shift with the humidity and create little cracks where bugs can fly in. The only way to prevent literal swarms of bugs from entering their room is to vacuum them up with the Dyson and apply another layer of packing tape around the window frames to try to keep them out. Sarah and Delilah both appreciate his sacrifice, for they can't sleep in a room crowded with the thrumming of wings running endlessly into the walls.
