As Sarah and Hunter first started to get to know each other, one of the first things that became apparent about Hunter was that a lot of mainstream culture passed him by during his childhood. This was mainly because he didn't attend public school, and his homeschooling curriculum encouraged him to read books, watch movies, and enjoy TV shows that supported Christian values and teachings. Harry Potter didn't cut, and even as an adult, Hunter never got around to watching the movies or reading the books. For Sarah, who grew up with the Harry Potter series, this was a little shocking. She insisted they at least watch the movies together (all eight of them) so that Hunter could make up his mind about them (and so she could indulge her nostalgia). In honor of Hunter making it through all the movies (and because LEGO has so many adorable Harry Potter sets), they decided to make this one of their table themes. The couple acknowledges that JK Rowling, the author, has proven to be a deeply problematic person, and her anti-trans views are very harmful to communities that they love.

The Approach

"Hogwarts Castle Boathouse"
"Hogwarts Castle Boathouse"

350 pieces  |  LEGO: 76426

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, December 2024

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

This set depicts the scene from the first book/movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, as Harry and his new classmates arrive at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry by boat. The set includes minifigures of Harry Potter, Neville Longbottom, Dean Thomas, Hermione Granger, and Professor McGonagall, as well as Hedwig the owl and Trevor the toad.

The Great Hall

"Hogwarts Castle: The Great Hall"
"Hogwarts Castle: The Great Hall"

1,732 pieces  | LEGO: 76435

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, December 2024

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

This set depicts the Great Hall at Hogwarts, showcasing the castle's architecture on one side and a feast amidst the floating candles on the other. In the basement, you'll find the bathroom where Harry, Hermione, and Ron battle the mountain troll, the hall of portraits, and the Hufflepuff common room. It comes with minifigures including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore, Professor Quirrell, Leanne, Daphne Greengrass, Terry Boot, Professor Vector, the Fat Friar, and a mountain troll. If you don't know who half those characters are, join the club. (If you don't spot the troll, that's because they may have opted to exhibit him with a different set.)

First Flying Lesson

"Hogwarts: First Flying Lesson"
"Hogwarts: First Flying Lesson"

264 pieces  | LEGO: 76395 (retired)

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, May 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

This set captures part of the scene in the first book and movie where Harry and his fellow first-year classmates ride a broomstick for the first time in Madam Hooch's class. During the scene, Neville Longbottom is injured when he falls off his broomstick, and Madam Hooch has to escort him to the hospital wing. While she's gone, Draco Malfoy finds Neville's Remembrall (a glass orb that lights up with red smoke when you've forgotten something) and flies off with it. Harry flies after him, despite never having flown before, and demands it back. When Draco flings it, Harry dives after it and makes the catch. Professor McGonagall spies the whole thing from inside the castle, and instead of punishing Harry, appoints him the Seeker of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. The set comes with minifigures of Neville, Draco, and Madam Hooch, plus a special golden minifigure of Professor Quirrell, a villain of the first installment.

Fluffy

Fluffy

737 pieces  |  Zhegao: 88010

Assembled by Srdjan Lesaja, July 2025

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

Fluffy is a giant three-headed dog (in the spirit of Cerberus) who guards the trapdoor protecting the Sorcerer's Stone in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Harry, Ron, and Hermione learn that the way to calm Fluffy and slip past him to get into the Underground Chambers, where Harry could protect the stone from Voldemort, was to play calming music. LEGO never made a set like this one, though there is a Fluffy minifigure from LEGO 76387: Hogwarts Fluffy Encounter.

What Exactly is the Function of a Rubber Duck?

"Flying Ford Anglia"
"Flying Ford Anglia"

165 pieces  |  LEGO: 76424

Assembled by Hunter Williams, November 2024

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

This set features the flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which Harry and Ron stole when the portal to Platform 9 3/4 mysteriously closed, preventing them from entering while they were trying to get to Hogwarts. It comes with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley minifigures, along with Hedwig the owl and Scabbers the rat. Sarah couldn't resist giving this set a title that riffed on Ron's dad, Arthur Weasley, who asks Harry during the movie what the function of a rubber duck is (since he has lived in the "Muggle" world, where rubber ducks are common). And in case you're wondering, no, this set didn't originally come with rubber ducks.

Mandrake

"Mandrake"
"Mandrake"

579 pieces  |  LEGO: 76433

Assembled by ?, ? 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

The Mandrake is a plant featured in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets that has the power to revive students (and cats) who have been petrified by the Basilisk, which resides in the Chamber under Hogwarts. There's a scene in the movie where Harry, Ron, and Hermione practice repotting a Mandrake during Herbology class. When lifted from its pot, the Mandrake wails like a newborn baby, but in a pitch intolerable to human ears. Neville Longbottom faints during the scene because of the sound. The LEGO version of the Mandrake doesn't wail, but it does somehow look like a grumpy old man-baby. Go ahead, give it a lift from the pot!

Aragog in the Forbidden Forest

Replica of LEGO 76434: "Aragog in the Forbidden Forest"

195 pieces  |  Unbranded: 76434

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, May 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

Aragog is an Acromantula (giant spider) that features in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Harry and Ron have to go into the Forbidden Forest to visit Aragog as they seek to learn more about what creature is lurking in the chamber under Hogwarts. The set on display is a replica of LEGO 76434, and comes with Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, along with one of Aragog's babies.

Hagrid's Hut: Buckbeak's Rescue

Replica of LEGO 75947: "Hagrid's Hut: Buckbeak's Rescue"
Replica of LEGO 75947: "Hagrid's Hut: Buckbeak's Rescue"

496 pieces  |  Unbranded: 75947

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, April 2025

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (probably Sarah's favorite book and movie of the series), Harry and Hermione use a time-turner device to go back in time to undo a series of events that resulted in unnecessary harm. One of their missions while time traveling is to save Buckbeak, a hippogriff, from being unfairly executed for an incident that wasn't his fault. This set features the groundskeeper, Hagrid's cottage, Buckbeak, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, Hagrid, the Minister of Magic, and the Executioner. The set on display is a replica of LEGO 75947, which is now retired.

Owl Post

"Hogwarts Castle Owlery"
"Hogwarts Castle Owlery"

364 pieces  |  LEGO: 76430

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, December 2024

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

This set recreates the scene where Harry Potter invites Cho Chang to the Yule Ball in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It includes Harry Potter, Cho Chang, and Argus Filch minifigures, and five owls, including Pigwidgeon. While building this set, the couple discovered a hidden sixth owl that is built into the structure of the tower, and is only visible during the building process.

Thestral Family

"Thestral Family"
"Thestral Family"

548 pieces  |  LEGO: 76458

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, July 2025

Interaction Rating: 4 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged, but use extra care)

The Thestral is a breed of winged horse with a skeletal body, a face with reptilian features, and wide, leathery wings that resemble those of a bat. They are first seen in the Harry Potter universe in the fifth book/movie, The Order of the Phoenix. Harry and his classmate, Luna Lovegood, discover that they can see the Thestrals as they pull carriages to Hogwarts, whereas other classmates can't see them. That's because they are visible only to those who have witnessed death at least once. By then, both Harry and Luna carried the onerous burden of having seen someone die.

Accessory Sets

Harry and Hedwig

"Harry Potter and Hedwig: Owl Delivery"
"Harry Potter and Hedwig: Owl Delivery"

31 pieces  |  LEGO: 30420 (retired)

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, June 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

This polybag set depicts the moment when Hedwig, Harry's snow owl, delivers a wrapped package to him while he and his friends are eating in the Great Hall. He unwraps a Nimbus 2000 broomstick, an excellent and expensive model, that was gifted to him in secret by Professor McGonagall after he joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

Draco in the Forbidden Forest

"Hermione's Study Desk"
"Hermione's Study Desk"

33 pieces  |  LEGO: 30677 (retired)

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, June 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

This set is based on the scene from the first book/movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, where Draco’s plan to get Harry and his friends in trouble for being up past curfew backfires. Since he was also out of his dormitory after hours, he would receive detention in the Forbidden Forest with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. While out in the forest, they discover a slain unicorn and something (or someone) in a cloak drinking its life-sustaining blood. The forest is forbidden for a reason.

Whomping Willow

"Whomping Willow"
"Whomping Willow"

145 pieces  |  Part of LEGO: 75953 (retired)

The Whomping Willow tree is part of a retired LEGO set that represents parts of the plot from the second book and movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. When the entrance to Platform 9 and 3/4 is blocked, Ron and Harry take Ron's father's flying car to Hogwarts, where they crash into the Whomping Willow tree. The tree has a mind of its own and tries to smash them to bits. Later in the story, it's revealed that the base of the Whomping Willow tree is the entrance to the Shrieking Shack, where one of Voldemort's accomplices hides.

Hermione's Study Desk

"Hermione's Study Desk"
"Hermione's Study Desk"

31 pieces  |  LEGO: 30392 (retired)

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, June 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

This polybag set is not intended to depict a specific scene from the series. Still, it reminds the couple of Hermione in the second book and movie, when she is shown conducting extensive research in the library to gather more information about the Chamber of Secrets and the beast that inhabits it. This, of course, comes before her petrification by the Basilisk, which happens right after she finds the answer.

Quidditch Practice

"Quidditch Practice"
"Quidditch Practice"

55 pieces  |  LEGO: 30651 (retired)

Assembled by Sarah Wilkinson, May 2025

Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)

This polybag depicts Cho Chang, the Seeker of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. She features in the third book/movie, The Prisoner of Azkaban. She faces Harry, Gryffindor's Seeker, in a Quidditch match. In successive movies, Harry develops a crush on Cho and they have a brief fling. The set is a small forced-perspective microscale stadium of a Quidditch pitch.
