Sarah and Hunter's friend, Vanessa, was working on launching a new craft business with her friend and business partner, Amy, in the fall of 2023. The idea behind their business was to open "Glue Craft Studio," where people could come and have access to a variety of craft supplies and project ideas all under one roof. As part of the process of testing and refining their concept, they hosted a family and friends weekend in the garage of a friend who was letting them use the space while they built up to the point of being able to rent their own studio. Vanessa and Amy had set up a variety of craft stations, each with supplies and instructions, and they welcomed their friends and family into the space to choose a craft to do. Sarah and Hunter are both creative, but Hunter is more skilled at crafts than Sarah is. He picked a challenging project to try out, which was creating a mountain landscape using a wooden board, nails, and string. Sarah was not ready to do crafting that required a hammer, so she learned how to make pom-poms out of yarn and create a wreath out of them. While they worked, Vanessa and Amy moved around the room, helping and visiting with everyone. There was even a tea and snack station set up, which Hunter helped himself to. At the end of the afternoon, Sarah and Hunter assisted Vanessa and Amy by completing a survey they'd created to help them identify areas for improvement as they moved forward with their business. It was fun to craft while also knowing they were helping out a close friend.
