When Sarah first returned to Richmond after college, she set out on a mission to make some new friends. One of the people she met during this time, Nena, became a dear friend. It was bittersweet when Nena and her husband, Ryan, moved to Chattanooga, but they maintain a strong friendship and try to visit each other at least once a year, with lots of phone calls in between. Nena and Ryan came for a visit in the fall of 2024, both to see Sarah and Hunter, but also to attend a birthday party for a friend who still lives in Richmond. They stayed with the couple, and on the first night they were in town, they visited the park near the couple's home and took their dog, Ryder, for what would end up being his last long walk before his health began to decline. Sarah and Hunter took Nena and Ryan to Sergio's, a local Italian restaurant, for dinner, and Nena put together her first-ever LEGO sets during the trip. Ryan helped as well, but he's a long-time LEGO fan, so he didn't share in Nena's spotlight.

In the middle of their trip to Richmond, Nena and Ryan spent the better part of a day at their friend's DND-themed birthday (yes, there were outfits involved). On their last full day, they spent the morning mountain biking at Pocahontas State Park, which is one of Ryan's favorite activities (they even brought their mountain bikes with them from Tennessee). Afterwards, Sarah and Hunter took Nena shopping on Cary Street, a charming district that Nena had missed. That evening, Nena made shrimp and grits for dinner, one of Hunter's favorites and something he rarely gets to eat unless they're at a restaurant (and they know why: Nena had to dirty almost every dish they owned to pull it off). They finished up LEGO projects and the following morning, had to say goodbye to their dear friends. The next time Sarah and Hunter see Nena and Ryan will be at their wedding!
