One of the gifts Hunter gave Sarah for their first Christmas together was an "Adventure Ticket." At any time, Sarah could cash the ticket in for an all-expenses-paid weekend getaway to anywhere of her choosing. Come February, Sarah was in the process of leaving her job at MENTOR Virginia and securing a new one at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. The stress was getting to her, so she decided to cash in her adventure ticket for a trip to Luray Caverns, a place Hunter had never been to before. Luray, Virginia, is about two and a half hours away from their home (Hunter had just officially moved in with Sarah and her mom on January 1). On the way there, they decided to stop over in Charlottesville to visit Carter Mountain Orchard & Country Store. At that time of year, there wasn't much happening at the orchard, but the country store was downright charming. Sarah persuaded Hunter to get some of Carter Mountain's famous apple cider donuts (he didn't require much persuading). They browsed the store, which was filled with glass jars of preserves and syrups, homemade candles, oven mitts featuring funny witticisms, and a variety of reclaimed wood decor. Hunter bought Sarah a banana bread candle. They hung out a while at a picnic table, enjoying the mountain views, before it was time to head to their Airbnb in Luray.

The couple didn't take nearly enough photos of their trip to Charlottesville and Luray, so Sarah stole some pictures from the Internet. Hunter can attest that the cider donuts did look that deep-fried and delicious (because they were!).
