Their date to Richmond's Roller Dome was at a time when the world was still tentatively emerging from the COVID pandemic, so the throng of people at the rink was a little overwhelming for them both. They attempted to keep their masks on as they laced up their rented skates and got on the crowded rink. Sarah fully expected Hunter to be a terrible roller skater, still not quite used to the fact that despite how nerdy he was and his complete lack of interest in sports, he still had a strong athletic ability (and quite muscled arms and legs). Sarah grew up roller skating and came from a father who was in a roller skating league as a teenager, so she knew she'd pick it back up quickly. They were both wobbly at first, but neither fell (which was good, because it was crowded enough that they definitely would have taken half the rink down with them). Once they had their sea legs, Sarah made a game of making Hunter chase after her, bobbing and weaving through the other skaters. Sarah was curious to see if she could outskate him, but he kept up, accelerating when she did and braking when she did. Hunter made sure Sarah was okay when she miscalculated the space she had to pass another skater and skated right into the back of someone else. They enjoyed people-watching, especially the rhythmically skilled skaters who made it look like their skates were an extension of their legs. They weren't so graceful, but they managed to stay on their feet. They were too sore the next day to spend much time on their feet at all.
