For Sarah's thirtieth birthday, the couple invited friends over for a party themed around building the brick flowers for the brick flower photo wall at their wedding. It was a brilliant way to both celebrate a milestone birthday with friends while also getting some much-needed help with building the huge number of brick flowers they needed to be able to pull off the brick flower photo wall at the wedding. The idea originally came from a blog post that Vanessa, Sarah's friend and officiant, saw on LEGO's website, which highlighted brick decor people have created for weddings. The flower wall from that post enchanted Sarah, and she knew right away they would attempt their own version using cheaper, alternative-brand flowers since they were going to need so many (the original brick flower wall that served as the couple's inspiration is pictured at the bottom of this page).
Their brick flower photo wall has to be constructed on site at the wedding venue, so you may not see one pictured on this page (and if there isn't one at the wedding at all, that probably means they couldn't quite pull off this ambitious [and very heavy!] element of their big day). They did commission a custom LED sign in the style of vintage neon that they plan to hang over the top of the flower wall, which is pictured here. They chose the "Everyone is Awesome" wording on the sign because it riffs on The LEGO Movie, and also because every person at their wedding is awesome and the brick flower photo wall is a celebration of that communal awesomeness.
The couple's brick flower wall wouldn't have been possible without the help of:
Mike Alfare
Megan Compton
Will Compton
Andrew Deese
Rachel Deese
Bonnie Draga
Jonny Fuller
Emily Grimes
Mikayla Ihilani
Owen James
Lok Lam
Vanessa Reyes
Zack Thayer
Marta Zoellner
Hunter was in charge of party photography, so...you get what you pay for.

Look at all the brick flowers they built together at Sarah's birthday party!
The day after the party, Rachel and Andrew came back over to help finish putting together the couple's flower brick sets for the photo wall. They took a walk around Sunday Park and stopped for some splash time in the lake. Andrew chased fish and they watched turtles poke their heads up for air. Later, Cali shared some leftover cheesecake with Cali.

Here's the brick flower photo wall that was featured on LEGO's website and provided the inspiration for the couple's own flower wall.
