Toward the end of her time working at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Sarah bonded with two of her colleagues, Zack and Christina, primarily over shared frustration with the difficult work environment they were dealing with. All of them were no longer working at the Garden by the beginning of the summer, but they were seeing each other outside of work for game nights. The first was at Unplugged Game Cafe, a restaurant where you can also choose a board game from hundreds of options to play while enjoying your food (or you can skip the food and just play!). Sarah brought Hunter along to meet them, and Christina brought her husband. They ended up playing Wyrmspan, an offshoot of the game Wingspan. The goal of the game is to excavate your cave to entice dragons to roost in your sanctuary. Neither Hunter nor Sarah had ever played before, but as is custom for Hunter, he picked it up immediately and ended up winning. During another game night at Zack's house, they played Agricola, a board game in which everyone is a farmer of some kind and must work together to build the largest and most well-resourced farm. Neither Hunter nor Sarah had ever played that game either, and both did pretty well (but came far from winning). When everyone congregated at Sarah and Hunter's house, they ended up working on assembling brick sets, as the couple needed help (plus, it's a lot of fun!).
