About a month before the wedding, Sarah and Hunter traveled to Alexandria to attend their nephew Andrew's seventh birthday party, which was themed around Minecraft. Hunter is a Minecraft expert; Sarah knows next to nothing about it. Their sister, Rachel, went to great lengths to plan a fun themed party for Andrew, complete with Minecraft balloons, party hats, piñata, a custom cake, and a scavenger hunt that led Andrew and his friends to find the Minecraft sword that Rachel had hidden. Andrew was a ball of energy before, during, and after the party, living his best life as the center of everyone's attention and birthday wishes. He opened his presents after everyone had gone home (the couple had gifted him LEGO sets, obviously). He was also gifted some gift cards to spend on the Minecraft marketplace for in-game items, so Hunter helped him explore his options on Andrew's tablet. They played a rather complicated game of Monopoly Knockout—one of Andrew's gifts—which was essentially a shuffleboard game using paper money. Hunter also took Andrew outside in the sweltering sun for a quick game of cornhull, hoping the heat might wear him out and spend some of his bouncing-off-the-walls energy. Instead, Hunter came back inside looking like a wilted flower, while Andrew was completely unfazed and ready to play with his next new toy: a glow-in-the-dark heart rock painting kit.
The photo of Andrew lying his head on Uncle Hunter's shoulder while they explored the Minecraft marketplace may be one of the cutest photos on their whole exhibit website, even if it is back-lit.
