Plantar Farm

2,233 pieces | Zhegao: 1016
Assembled by Vanessa Reyes, December 2024
Interaction Rating: 3 / 5 (interaction with the set is okay, but only with the help of an adult)
Premise: Anne Boonchuy finds herself lost in a world of talking frogs and toads called Amphibia after stealing a music box from a pawn shop at home in California. She meets the Plantar family, who take care of her while they figure out how to get her back home. Anne realizes that the two friends she was with when she stole the music box were also beamed into Amphibia, and they must team up to defeat King Andreas's plot to take over Amphibia and find a way home.
Favorite Moments: The couple's shared favorite moment of the show is when the elderly frog of the Plantar family, Hop Pop, is battling one of King Andreas's robots. He lets out a rousing battle cry of, "EAT THE RICH!!" before dropping a guillotine blade onto the robot and chopping its head off. The couple also enjoys the episode that parodies Gravity Falls by having a frog version of Grunkle Stan called Curator Ponds, who runs the Curiosity Hut (a play on the Mystery Shack) in Amphibia. He turns out to be an extravagant psychopath who captures bizarre creatures and traps them in wax so he can add them to his museum collection. There's even a frog version of Soos, who works for Curator Ponds in the Curiosity Hut.
Bessie the Snail

67 pieces | Knew Built: KY80040
Assembled by Vanessa Reyes, March 2025
Interaction Rating: 5 / 5 (interaction with the set is encouraged)
Set Significance:
Mushroom House: The Plantar Farm is not quite a mushroom, but is built into an old decaying tree and has the same vibe as the Mushroom House that the couple selected to represent it. The Mushroom House even came with a beetle-drawn carriage, which reminded them of the snail-drawn carriage the family uses to get around town. Mushrooms play a role in the show, as one of the sub-plot villains is a mind-controlling mushroom zombie that nearly takes over all of Amphibia.
Snail: The Plantar's family vehicle is a snail named Bessie. Bessie is a loyal snail who comes to the rescue of Anne and the Plantars many times in the series. Whenever times get rough, all one of the family has to say is, "Bessie, things are getting messy!" and she zooms them away to safety.
Where It's Streaming: Disney+; the finale aired in 2022.
Reason They Watched: Sarah had started watching the show before she met Hunter, and they'd enjoyed similar animated Disney series, so she knew they would enjoy this one too. They ended up watching it during a very stressful time when they were trying to sterilize their house from a mold infestation, and Sarah was struggling to organize with others at her workplace to address the toxic workplace culture.
