Premise: Hugo is an orphaned child secretly living in the clock tower of a 1930s train station in Paris, where he maintains the clock so no one discovers that his uncle has left him alone. He steals some parts from a shopkeeper so he can fix an automaton his father left behind before he died, hoping it will give him a final message from his father. The shopkeeper, Papa Georges, catches him, and so begins Hugo's entanglement with him and his family. Hugo discovers that Papa Georges used to be an early innovator and producer of films, and goes on an adventure to bring the joy of cinema back to him.
Favorite Moment: Sarah and Hunter watched the film on a portable DVD player from their tent on a rainy day during their camping trip to Wytheville, Virginia. They're both amused by Sacha Baron Cohen's character in the movie as the cold-hearted station guard who's in love with the sweet florist.
Set Significance: The replica of LEGO 43230, Walt Disney Tribute Camera, reminded the couple of the strong theme about the history of film present in Hugo. (Plus, it's a damn good replica!)
Where It's Streaming: It may only be available for rent. It was released in 2011.
Reason They Watched: It was a rainy day at the campground, and Sarah had packed only a few DVDs, so that's the one they chose that day. It was a good choice!
